How Big Is Your God
Go! the LORD will be with you. 1 Samuel 17:37B
We all love to root for the underdog…but what if the underdog is you?
It’s all well and good for little David to aim his slingshot at Goliath, but when I’m facing “giants” in my life, I want something more. Protective armor, at least, and maybe some bear spray! Or better yet, someone else to step up and fight for me. All I can see is the size of the threat and my own pathetic weakness.
That’s what King Saul saw, too, at first: a puny kid challenging a warrior. What changed so that he could put the fate of the nation in the hands of a kid?
He saw the David knew and trusted God.
And that makes all the difference – for us as well as for him. David knew that he was small against Goliath. But he knew that God is big. David was not self-confident; he was God-confident.
Are you facing a giant today? How big is your God?
