‘An Eternal Rock’

Trust in the LORD forever!  For the LORD is an eternal Rock.  ISAIAH 26:4

The liturgical season of Advent points to the truth of Christ’s coming among us.  Although we may say we know of the joy that will come as we celebrate that first Christmas, sometimes we may still have our occasional doubts that must be resolved.  And it is only by placing our ultimate trust in God that we are able to overcome those uncertainties.

To say that God is an “eternal Rock” implies that he is the solid foundation upon which we must base every avenue of our lives.  If we do not affirm and avow God’s ultimate dominance throughout the universe, then we run the risk of entering into despair, sooner or later.  As we await the birth of Jesus at Christmas, let us place all of our hopes, fears and worries upon the Lord: the rock that will not move.

Heavenly Father, help us to always remember and celebrate that you continue to be the solid foundation that lifts us heavenward.
