Every Day Opportunities
…to do the right… Micha 6:8B
Today’s instruction in Micah seems pretty straightforward: to do the right, to love goodness, to walk humbly. I want to focus on that first phrase, as I sometimes find I don’t know what the right is in a given situation.
Should I give advice to my adult children when they share their woes, or should I just listen?
Should I continue to travel at my age in such an uncertain, politically fraught world, or should I keep to the sanctuary of home?
Should I give money to the people begging on the street, or should I say a silent prayer for the transformation of their lives?
Every day, we are confronted with opportunities to do the right. In that liminal space before acting, we hesitate in our unknowing. Should I do this, or should I do that, or should I do anything at all?
In the pause of that space is a perfect time to pray…
Come, Holy Spirit, come! Guide me along right paths.
